Dec. 12, 2007 - Three young heroes, Joseph Spencer, 11, Alex Holtz, 14, and Ryan Orr, 12 in Belleair, Florida helped to save a lady, Virginia Arabia, whose arm had become trapped in the doors of an elevator while she was loading groceries into the elevator. She screamed out in pain and for help, and the young heroes followed the cries until they found her. After unsuccessfully trying to open the elevator doors themselves, two of the children stayed with the distraught woman and one went to get his parents for additional help. Ms. Arabia was worrying that if someone should hail the elevator while she was trapped her arm could get broken. Her hand and fingers were growing numb. The parents arrived and were able to pry the elevator doors open and free Ms. Arabia. She was thankful that the strangers became her new friends and heroes. Ms. Arabia works as a teacher, and has since had the chance to introduce her young heroes to her students. Ms. Arabia hopes the actions of her heroes can inspire heroism in others.
